The speech delivered on Friday by His Majesty King Mohammed VI was marked by openness and represented a sincere call for fraternal dialogue with Algeria, stated Ahmed Ould Oubeid, Vice President of the Mauritanian party “Sawab.”
In a statement to MAP, Ould Oubeid emphasized that HM the King reaffirmed in His address that Morocco remains committed to finding a solution to the Sahara issue “that allows all parties to save face, with neither winners nor losers.”
He noted that the UN Security Council resolution on the Moroccan Sahara holds crucial importance for the Arab Maghreb Union, as it paves the way for revitalizing this regional bloc.
In this regard, he stressed that a final settlement of the Moroccan Sahara conflict would enable the reactivation of the Maghreb Union, transforming it into a major economic and social force.
He further highlighted that the UN resolution confirmed that the Moroccan autonomy plan constitutes the basis for resolving this five-decade-long conflict, calling on the political class and the Maghrebian elite at large to contribute positively to strengthening brotherly ties.
