The Mohammed VI Football Complex is emerging as “the nerve center of African football,” showcasing the commitment of a country and a continent looking toward the future, writes Italian newspaper Agrigento Notizie.

“A major asset for the development of international tourism,” this complex, inaugurated by HM King Mohammed VI in 2019, receives national football teams in training as well as foreign teams, particularly from Africa, wishing to organize their training camps there, the media outlet highlights in a report dubbed “From Exceptional Sports Centers to Tanneries and Ceramics Workshops: Discover the Unexpected Side of Morocco.”

This high-end megastructure, which houses the FIFA-Africa Office, includes natural and synthetic grass football fields, an indoor field, a futsal hall, an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts and a beach soccer field, as well as a luxury hotel and a FIFA-standard sports medicine center, the report points out.

In addition to this integrated structure, an exceptional football museum awaits the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, which the Kingdom plans to host, with excitement mounting as these two major football events approach, the outlet maintains.

In this regard, the newspaper notes that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) National Football Museum, inaugurated in 2024, offers a memorable experience to visitors through a permanent exhibition tracing Moroccan football’s rich history and highlights.

The newspaper also looks back on the historic achievement of the Atlas Lions, who finished fourth at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, noting that Morocco has “invested heavily” in youth training, recently winning the U-20 FIFA World Cup, the author of the article rejoices, stressing that anticipation is growing as the Africa Cup of Nations (December 21-January 18) and the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Spain and Portugal, approach.

The newspaper also points out that Morocco has “an unexpected side, often overlooked by travelers who are content to visit the usual tourist sites,” as the Kingdom is also renowned for its high-quality craftsmanship and its imperial cities, including Fez, the spiritual capital of the Kingdom and of craftsmanship, and the Ismaili city of Meknes, described as the “Moroccan Versailles.”
