Moroccan airports welcomed a record 24,274,324 passengers by the end of September 2024. This figure, according to Kingdom’s airports authority (ONDA), marks a 19.66% increase over the same period in 2023.
This significant growth spanned all major Moroccan airports. Specifically, Rabat-Salé Airport took the lead with 42.77% increase in passenger traffic, followed closely by Agadir with 36.5%, Dakhla with 35.94%, and Marrakech with 33.88%. Tétouan and Tangier also posted significant increases of 31.09% and 21.91%, respectively.
Domestic air travel saw a notable surge after reaching 2,552,687 passengers by the end of September, up 28.82% from last year. This increase points up the growing demand for inter-city travel within Morocco.
International traffic remained strong with 21,721,637 passengers traveling to or from Morocco during the same period. This represents an 18.67% year-over-year increase, attributed to higher traffic from key markets, including Europe (+19.86%), Africa (+17.68%), and the Middle and Far East (+11.99%).
Aircraft movements also increased, with ONDA reporting 179,863 takeoffs and landings by the end of September, a 15.44% rise compared to the previous year.
