The Republic of Chad reiterated, on Wednesday in Dakhla, its « constant position in favor of Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over the whole of its territory, including the Sahara region ».
This position was reaffirmed in the joint Communiqué signed today in Dakhla, following the meeting between Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Chadians Abroad and International Cooperation, Government Spokesman, Abderaman Koulamallah, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
The same joint Communiqué « reaffirmed Chad’s support for the autonomy Plan under Moroccan sovereignty, presented by the Kingdom in 2007, as the only basis for a credible and realistic solution to this regional dispute », and « welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive framework for achieving a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the Sahara dispute ».
At a press briefing held after the signing of the Communiqué, Bourita commended this clear position, while hailing Chad’s decision to open a Consulate General in Dakhla on this very day, 14 August 2024, which coincides with the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the recovery of Oued Eddahab.
The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Chadians Abroad and International Cooperation, and Government Spokesman, Abderaman Koulamallah, is on a visit to Morocco, during which he held consultations with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, and inaugurated the headquarters of the Consulate General of Chad in Dakhla.
