Moroccan surfer Ramzi Boukhiam on Sunday won the silver medal at the ISA World Surfing Games, held from February 23 to March 3 in Puerto Rico.

This is the first medal in the history of Morocco’s participation in these Games.

The Moroccan surfer was beaten by Brazilian Gabriel Medina, who won the gold medal, while Frenchman Kauli Vaast came third.

During these World Surfing Games, Ramzi Boukhiam clinched his ticket for the Paris-2024 Olympic Games, his second consecutive qualification for the Olympic Games after Tokyo 2020.

Boukhiam, 30, has recently made his return to the world surfing scene to compete in the World Surf League Championship Tour 2024 (WCT 2024), which brings together the world’s professional surfing elite.

The Moroccan surfer qualified at the end of the 2022 Challenger Series (CS) season, but an injury at the start of 2023 prevented him from participating in the Championship Tour (CT).
