National security officers at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested, on Friday, a Turkish national subject to an international arrest warrant issued by the German judicial authorities, a security source reported.
The 43-year-old suspect was apprehended immediately upon his arrival on a flight from Turkey, the same source specified, adding that a check in the Interpol database revealed that he was the subject of a red notice issued by German justice for his alleged involvement in a cocaine trafficking case.
The suspect was placed under the specific procedures relating to extradition before being brought before the competent public prosecutor’s office, while the German authorities were informed of the arrest, according to the same source.
This arrest is part of the Moroccan security services’ commitment to implementing mechanisms of international security cooperation, particularly in the pursuit and apprehension of individuals wanted worldwide for cases linked to transnational crimes.
