Morocco and Chad expressed, on Thursday, their determination to strengthen cooperation in the fields of energy, mining, and sustainable development during a meeting in Rabat.
The talks, held between Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, and her Chadian counterparts, Ndolenodji Alixe Naîmbaye, Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Geology, and Mahamat Assileck Halata, Minister of Territorial Development and Urban Planning, focused on the excellent relations linking the two countries, which are founded on mutual respect and joint action for inclusive and sustainable development.
Speaking to the press, Minister Benali stressed that the meeting provided an opportunity to examine ways to further reinforce the excellent, fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Chad.
The Minister indicated that Morocco attaches great importance to its excellent bilateral relationship with Chad, which is based on mutual trust and dynamic cooperation in key areas such as security, economy, education, culture, and sustainable development.
In this regard, she welcomed the significant progress made in bilateral cooperation in the energy and mining sectors, noting that the meeting would open new perspectives for strategic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, mining, and sustainable development.
Benali highlighted the importance of the Roundtable on the Financing of the National Development Programme “TchadConnexion 2030”, scheduled for November 10-11, 2025, in Abu Dhabi. She noted that the event represents an opportunity to promote this plan and mobilize international partners around its implementation.
She also expressed her department’s willingness to explore all avenues for Moroccan-Chadian collaboration to contribute to the success of this initiative.
For her part, Chad’s Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Geology, Ndolenodji Alixe Naîmbaye, affirmed that the financing roundtable for the National Development Programme “TchadConnexion 2030” constitutes an ambitious initiative that aims to make Chad an emerging country, while highlighting local expertise.
“Today, we intend to discuss all areas of development with the objective of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two nations and enabling the transfer of technology we need,” she observed.
Chad is widely opening its doors to Moroccan expertise and companies, she said, emphasizing the need to exchange expertise and experience between the two countries to consolidate cooperation in the fields of mining, energy, and sustainable development.
The Minister of Territorial Development and Urban Planning, Mahamat Assileck Halata, meanwhile, highlighted the importance of the fraternal ties uniting the two brotherly countries.
He stressed the necessity of drawing inspiration from the Moroccan development experience, underscoring the importance of forging strong ties with the various stakeholders working in the fields of mining, energy, and sustainable development.
