The President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) of Morocco, Abdelkader Amara,  participated Monday in Brussels in the first meeting of the Bureau of the Union of French-speaking Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (UCESIF) for the 2025–2028 term, now under the presidency of Côte d’Ivoire.

Hosted at Belgium’s Central Economic Council, the meeting aimed to define UCESIF’s priorities for the coming term and explore strategic cooperation with the Union of Economic and Social Councils of Africa (UCESA), currently chaired by Amara.

Speaking at the event, Amara reaffirmed Morocco CESE’s strong commitment to UCESIF, which the Moroccan Council had the honor of chairing during the 2015–2017 term—a period that saw the adoption of the Union’s social charter, inspired by Morocco’s own experience and framework.

The Moroccan official also emphasized the importance of the Association’s role in supporting and assisting its member Economic and Social Councils (ESCs), both as advisory bodies guiding public policy and as organizations promoting cohesion, equity, social justice, and participatory democracy.

Also speaking in his capacity as acting President of UCESA, an associate member of UCESIF, Amara highlighted the pragmatic and program-based cooperation between the two umbrella organizations, particularly in the areas of climate action and water governance.

For his part, President UCESIF Aka Aouélé welcomed the dynamic and pragmatic cooperation between the consultative institutions—namely Morocco’s CESE and Côte d’Ivoire’s CESEC—which he said reflects the strong and longstanding ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.
