Snowfall, heavy rain, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, and strong gusts of wind are forecast from Sunday to Wednesday in several provinces of the Kingdom, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).
Snowfall (20 to 40 cm) above 1,500 m is expected from Sunday at 12:00 p.m. to Monday at 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Midelt, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khénifra, Boulemane, Ifrane, Sefrou, Taza, and Guercif, according to the DGM’s orange-level alert .
Similarly, snowfall (5 to 15 cm) will be recorded during the same period in the provinces of Taourirt, Al Hoceima, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Figuig, Jerada, and Chefchaouen, according to the same source.
Snowfall (10 to 30 cm) is also expected above 1,500 m from Tuesday at midnight to Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the provinces of Al Hoceima, Sefrou, Boulemane, Ifrane, Midelt, Taza, and Guercif.
In addition, heavy rain, sometimes stormy, accompanied by gusts of wind (35 to 60 mm) is forecast from Sunday at 10:30 a.m. to Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the provinces of Taza, Tetouan, Taounate, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Ouezzane, Tangier-Assilah, M’diq-Fnideq, Al Hoceima, Kenitra, and Sidi Kacem, notes the DGM.
The same phenomenon with rainfall of 25 to 35 mm will affect the provinces of Driouch, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Fez, Sefrou, Khemisset, Rabat, Sidi Slimane, Moulay Yaacoub, Salé, Skhirat-Temara, and Meknes.
In addition, strong gusts of wind (75-85 km/h) are forecast from Sunday at 6:00 p.m. to Monday at 10:00 p.m. in the provinces of Tinghir, Sidi Ifni, Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Guelmim, and Ouarzazate.
