Moroccan police have foiled on Tuesday in Casablanca a trafficking attempt of a record quantity of psychotropic tablets, comprising 104,000 “Rivotril” tablets and 3,790 Ecstasy tablets.

The security operation, carried out in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), also led to the arrest of three individuals with presumed ties to a criminal network trafficking in narcotics and psychotropic substances, according to a statement from the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).

According to the initial investigation, the Casablanca police had on Wednesday arrested one person in flagrante delicto for possession and trafficking of 9,000 “Rivotril” tablets, before further investigations led to the arrest of three other individuals for alleged links with this criminal activity.

Searches led to the seizure of the remainder of this record quantity of hallucinogenic tablets, which were to be sold nationwide.

The four suspects were subjected to judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to arresting all those involved in this criminal network and revealing any links they may have with other narcotics and psychotropic drug trafficking networks.
