A specific partnership agreement aimed at reinforcing food safety was inked on Wednesday in Meknes between Morocco’s Casablanca Official Laboratory for Chemical Analysis and Research (LOARC) and the Gabonese Food Safety Agency (AGASA).
Initialled by LOARC Managing Director Nabil Chaouki and AGASA Managing Director Jean Delors Biyogue Bi Ntougou on the sidelines of the 17th International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), this three-year agreement aims to reinforce food safety as a priority public health issue, through technical and scientific cooperation between the two institutions.
It reflects a shared desire to combine LOARC’s and AGASA’s efforts to protect populations from health risks, while drawing on recognized expertise and advanced technological resources. Within this framework, the laboratory undertakes to carry out physico-chemical tests of food products and agricultural inputs on behalf of AGASA, in compliance with international standards.
Speaking on this occasion, Chaouki pointed out that this partnership will enable the laboratory to carry out a series of tests on food products imported by the Gabonese agency.
For his part, the Gabonese official stressed that this agreement reflects the strength of relations between the two countries, adding that it represents a concrete opportunity to implement a technical and scientific partnership, capable of further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The signing ceremony was attended by Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests Ahmed El Bouari and Gabonese Ambassador to Morocco Branly Martial Oupolo.
