Morocco is emerging as a strategic gateway to African markets for German and European companies, driven by a transformative development path under HM King Mohammed VI, said Andreas Jahn, Chairman of the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW).

“Morocco is no longer just a local market—it is a continental platform for companies seeking a long-term presence in Africa,” Jahn told MAP.

A member of Germany’s ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Secretary-General of the German SME Alliance for Africa, Jahn said the country’s growing economic role is bringing Morocco and Germany closer, with increasing interest from German firms.

“We share many values, and our industrial strengths and dynamic SME ecosystems offer fertile ground for a lasting partnership,” he added.

He welcomed the planned participation of a high-level BVMW business delegation, including major firms such as Siemens, at the upcoming World Power-to-X Summit in Marrakech in October, where companies will explore investment opportunities in Morocco.

The BVMW, which marked its 50th anniversary this year, represents over 900,000 SMEs from various sectors. It includes 32 industry associations and operates more than 300 offices in Germany and 80 abroad, including one in Morocco.
