Morocco is actively participating in the 3rd edition of the Africa Spain Summit, held on July 6-8 in Madrid, under the theme “Working together through a strategic relationship”.

Organized by “One Africa Forums” in collaboration with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, this institutional summit brings together representatives of African governments, heads of public administrations and international organizations, as well as senior Spanish officials, economic operators and experts with the aim of promoting sustainable, balanced and mutually beneficial cooperation.

This 2025 edition is structured around the five axes of the “Spain-Africa 2025-2028” strategy, namely economic connectivity, investment, security cooperation, regional integration and sustainable transition.

In the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Madrid Karima Benyaich, the Moroccan delegation at the summit highlighted the Kingdom’s strong commitment to forward-looking, multidimensional cooperation, ambitious regional integration and structured Euro-African dialogue.

The Moroccan participation was marked by several speeches highlighting the Kingdom’s African vision, based on co-development and win-win partnership.

On this occasion, President of “One Africa Forums” Hassan Alaoui emphasized that Morocco is Spain’s first gateway to the African continent, and a model of structured regional cooperation in Africa.

Morocco, he added, remains Spain’s leading economic partner on the African continent, and embodies a vision of cooperation based on stability, solidarity and efficiency.

For his part, Mohamed Hicham Baiz, representative of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), presented the results of the triangular Morocco-Africa-European Union Cooperation Program, launched in 2022 with the aim of enhancing young Africans’ employment, notably through academic mobility, technical cooperation and the encouragement of entrepreneurship.

For his part, Nasser Tlassellal, Managing Director of Tanger Med Engineering, highlighted the Kingdom’s position as a regional logistics hub and key player in  promoting Euro-African corridors. He also focused on Morocco’s ability to ensure connectivity between African and European markets, and to facilitate trade flows through world-class port infrastructures.

In turn, Fatima Bekkar, President of the Sahara Horizons organization and member of the Dakhla commune, presented the region’s great potential, both geographically – a natural link between Europe and Africa – and sectorally, with structuring projects such as the Dakhla Atlantique port, renewable energies, sustainable tourism, agribusiness and the exploitation of natural resources.

She also highlighted Dakhla’s investment momentum, supported by modern infrastructure, an attractive business environment and the Royal Initiative to facilitate Sahel countries’ access to Atlantic Ocean, making the region a true strategic crossroads for South-South cooperation.

Africa Spain Summit is a major event dedicated to political and economic dialogue between Spain and Africa. Through this third edition, Madrid confirms its central role in promoting Euro-African relations, and its ambition to build sustainable and inclusive cooperation between Spain and the African continent.
