Morocco participated in a high-level meeting on productive families and entrepreneurship on Tuesday in Manama, hosted by Bahrain’s Ministry of Social Development on the sidelines of the 44th session of the Arab Ministers of Social Affairs Council.

Leading the Moroccan delegation was Abdeljabbar Rachidi, Secretary of State to the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, with the delegation also including Morocco’s ambassador to Bahrain, Mustapha Benkhayi, and Mohamed Ait Azizi, Director of Family, Childhood, and Elderly Protection at the Ministry of Social Development.

The event focused on transforming productive family initiatives into pioneering projects aimed at driving socio-economic development across Arab nations.

In his address, Rachidi highlighted Morocco’s commitment to family empowerment under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, citing national efforts to enhance economic, social, and cultural rights. He referenced ongoing revisions to Morocco’s Family Code and the implementation of the Social State program.

Rachidi also showcased key initiatives, including the Jisr for Empowerment and Leadership program, which equips women with entrepreneurial skills and facilitates access to the labor market. He noted programs supporting income-generating projects for persons with disabilities and the third phase of the National Initiative for Human Development.

Additional initiatives included the Tamayuz Prize for Moroccan Women, which encourages female entrepreneurship, and efforts to position the care economy as a strategic sector for family empowerment and job creation.

The meeting, attended by Arab ministers and representatives from international and UN organizations, emphasized the critical role of productive families in achieving economic sustainability while addressing barriers such as training and market access.
