Morocco has made the fight against organized crime a top security and judicial priority, said Mohamed Abdennabaoui, First President of the Court of Cassation and President Delegate of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ), on Thursday in Rabat.

Speaking at the opening of an international seminar on transnational organized crime, co-hosted by the CSPJ and the French Ministry of Justice, Abdennabaoui said Morocco has adopted a comprehensive approach based on prevention, criminalization, deterrence, and international cooperation.

He also noted that the CSPJ has promoted judge specialization, continuous training, and stronger ties with African and European judicial networks.

Abdennabaoui stressed that organized crime, including human, drug, and arms trafficking—often facilitated by digital tools—requires coordinated global action, particularly between countries in the Global North and Africa.

In this regard, he warned that Africa remains highly vulnerable due to weak control systems in parts of the Sahel region.

The two-day seminar, themed “Organized Crime: Challenges and Shared Responsibilities,” includes panels on judicial strategies, international cooperation, and evidence-gathering in cross-border investigations.
