Morocco Strategic Minerals Corporation (TSXV: MCC) has announced promising results from its recent sampling program at the BMR copper-gold property. The program, completed in May, targeted a prominent mineralized structure in the property located southeast of Ouarzazate in Morocco.
The BMR property covers approximately 9 km² and features a subvertical mineralized structure spanning about 1.2 km in its southern portion. This structure is characterized by brecciated quartz-carbonate veining with visible copper oxide minerals, including chalcocite and malachite.
Initial surface sampling had returned values of up to 11.73% copper and 5.53 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, prompting the company to conduct follow-up exploration. The May program collected 67 rock samples along the mineralized structure, which were analyzed at Afrilab Laboratory in Marrakech.
The results confirmed the high-grade potential of the property. Of the samples collected, 37 returned copper grades exceeding 2.00% Cu, with a maximum value of 9.33% Cu.
Additionally, 19 samples showed oxide copper grades above 2.00% CuOX, reaching a maximum of 6.51% CuOX. Seven samples contained gold grades exceeding 0.30 g/t Au, with a maximum of 0.43 g/t Au. One sample reported a notable silver grade of 52 g/t Ag.
“These results confirm the high-grade copper potential of the southern structure and reveal notable gold and silver anomalies. The mineralization style suggests the potential for a larger polymetallic system, warranting further exploration,” said Pierre-Olivier Goulet, VP of Corporate Development for Morocco Strategic Minerals Corp.
The BMR property is accessible via the national road N9, which connects Ouarzazate and Zagora, and by a two-km track from kilometer 24 of road N9. The area contains two main zones of mineralization with different styles of copper presence.
In the southern zone, a subvertical mineralized structure with a 1.2 km strike length and up to 5m width shows tectonic brecciation within a shear zone exposed at the surface.
The main zone of mineralization varies from 0.5m to 3m in width, occasionally reaching over 5m, and contains massive sulfide veins that dip steeply eastward.
The northern part of the property features a historical copper quarry from which approximately 4,000 tonnes of material were extracted, most of which remains on site. Here, copper mineralization occurs in veins or is disseminated within volcanic rocks, surrounded by a zone of propylitic alteration.
Morocco Strategic Minerals is currently designing a follow-up program that will include detailed mapping, trenching, and geophysical surveys. These efforts aim to further evaluate the extent of mineralization and identify new targets across the property.
The company, a Canadian mineral exploration firm, focuses on acquiring, exploring, and potentially developing natural resource properties in Canada and Morocco.
According to the company, sample analysis involved quality control protocols, including the insertion of standards and blanks every 30 samples.
All samples were analyzed for multiple metals using Aqua regia digestion followed by atomic absorption spectroscopy, with samples containing above 5% Cu content being reanalyzed using titration method. Gold was analyzed using fire assay.
