In keeping with the Royal Vision for South-South Cooperation, Morocco has reiterated its readiness to share its agricultural expertise with African countries, aiming to build a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous future, Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari stated on Friday in Kampala, Uganda.
During the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) summit, El Bouari told MAP that Morocco has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing efforts to transform its agrifood system, making it more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable, in order to achieve the goals outlined in the 2014 Malabo Declaration on African Agricultural Transformation.
In line with the new development model, Morocco’s sectoral strategies and efforts are focused on an in-depth and sustainable transformation of agrifood systems, by prioritizing the human factor, said the minister, who was leading a high-ranking Moroccan delegation to the summit, held from January 9 to 11 in the Ugandan capital.
In this respect, the governmental official mentioned the “Generation Green 2020-2030”, “Forests of Morocco 2020-2030”, as well as “Halieutis” strategies, noting that these initiatives have helped to build a resilient agricultural system, recognized at continental level.
Such resilience was highlighted in the biennial monitoring reports of the Malabo Declaration Action Plan, in which Morocco ranked first in North Africa and second at continental level, after Rwanda, El Bouari pointed out.
The summit, aimed at renewing member states’ commitment to the implementation of initiatives on the transformation of African agriculture for the period 2025-2035, was an opportunity to highlight Morocco’s active role since its return to the African Union in 2017, he stressed, noting that the Kingdom has successfully aligned and coordinated its national strategies with the commitments defined in the 2014 Malabo Declaration.
