The Moroccan women’s futsal team got off to a perfect start at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Morocco-2025), thrashing their Namibian counterparts (8-1), in a match from Day 1 (Group A), played on Tuesday evening at the indoor hall of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
In their first match of the tournament, hosted by Morocco until April 30, the Atlas Lionesses opened the score through Malak Zaid Alkilani, followed by goals from AS FAR’s Doha El Madani, as well as Soumia Hady, Amal El Aoufi and Siham Tadlaoui, to mark the first half.
The second half made the tally higher through another shot by El Madani before Jasmine Demraoui netted a brace, while the Namibians scored their single point.
The match was attended by Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports Mohamed Saad Berrada, and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation Fouzi Lekjaa.
Next Thursday, the Atlas Lionesses will play against their Cameroonian counterparts.
