Morocco and Türkiye signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in the deployment of tachographs, aiming to enhance road safety and monitoring systems.
The agreement was signed in Marrakech by Moroccan Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh and Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu on the sidelines of the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.
The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration and knowledge-sharing, outlining measures for implementing digital tachographs, drafting legislation on driving hours, and setting up a secure system for managing and issuing tachograph cards.
Speaking to the press, Uraloğlu said his discussions with Kayouh covered broader transport cooperation, with a particular focus on tachographs.
He also highlighted the ministerial conference as a platform for global experts to exchange ideas and explore strategies to improve road safety.
The Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, is organized by Morocco’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics in partnership with the World Health Organization.
Themed “Commit to Life,” the event is drawing official delegations from more than 100 countries, including ministers responsible for transport, interior affairs, infrastructure, and health.
