Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defense Administration, met today with Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, British Senior Military Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa, to discuss the state of regional security and bilateral defense cooperation.

During the meeting held in Rabat, the two officials addressed ways to enhance cooperation, with a focus on interoperability and the exchange of expertise between the Moroccan and British armed forces.

A statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) said the discussions focused on exploring ways to boost cooperation, including in interoperability and exchange of experience between the two countries’ armies.

During the meeting, the British delegation stressed the need to deepen military cooperation with Morocco while acknowledging the importance of the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces in serving regional peace and stability, the statement added.

The UK and Morocco have frequently emphasized determination to boost bilateral ties and cooperation at all levels, including trade and military.
In July, the new British government emphasized its commitment to continue boosting these ties, including security cooperation.

British Minister of State for Defense, Lord Vernon Coaker, made the comments in speech at a reception hosted by the Moroccan embassy in London to celebrate the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne

“As Morocco moves towards a brighter future under the leadership of his majesty King Mohammed VI, and as the world’s eyes are focused on the kingdom co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal, Morocco can count on the United Kingdom as an enthusiastic and reliable partner,” he said.

Coaker also recalled Morocco’s contribution to keeping peace and promoting stability and development in the Sahel and the west Africa regions under King Mohammed VI’s leadership.
