Moroccans across the world are awaiting Monday evening, specifically 8 p.m., as Morocco is gearing up to play its third and final Group A game against Zambia.

The Atlas Lions game against Zambia will take place at 8 p.m. Moroccan time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The two teams met three times before during AFCON, and Morocco recorded two wins and one draw in their previous encounters in the former CAN tournaments in 1986, 1998, and 2023.

Overall, the two teams met 22 times, with Morocco dominating all matches with 14 wins.

Moroccans are also expecting a win tonight as the second game as part of Group A finished with a 1-1 draw against Mali.

In a press conference on Sunday, head coach Walid Regragui stated that his top priority is to secure a win and remain first in the group, a result that will enable the Atlas Lions to continue their AFCON journey in Rabat.

In response to criticism, Regragui said he knows what he is doing and that he is confident about his team and his tactics.

In the briefing, Regragui was asked if he still believes Moroccans won’t find a better coach than him to secure the trophy.

“Yes, I still think so; otherwise I wouldn’t be sitting here. I have even more confidence than everyone else, I believe, in this group and this team. And we know that in a competition- even more so in the Africa Cup of Nations, but in all competitions in general- it’s at the end of the show that the musicians get paid,” he said.

Achraf Hakimi echoed Regragui’s remarks, describing the game as a big match against Zambia.

“We are ready, as the coach said. We have short-term objectives, including qualifying and staying ahead in the group to remain in Rabat,” Hakimi said.

Hakimi emphasized that the tournament is not an easy task.

“I know that supporters and journalists are very demanding; they want Morocco to win every game… but it is not easy. Keep your shoulders and head,” Hakimi said.

He acknowledged that a lot of improvement should be made, promising the team will do their best.

If you are watching the match from your small or big screen at home, several football channels and streamers are airing the game, including Morocco’s Arriyadia TNT.

Other channels airing the game are also beIN Sports Connect, beIN Sports, beIN Sports 3, SuperSport Grandstand, SABC Plus, SABC2, and  SA FM.
