Morocco Wins Impressive 20 Medals at Arab Karate Championship

Morocco’s karate team ended the Arab Karate Championship in Amman, Jordan with a third-place finish, bringing home a total of 20 medals

The championship saw fierce competition among 330 athletes from nine countries.

Morocco’s champions who won gold in the kumite category were:

– Saïd Oubaya (under 67kg)

– Elias Laafou (over 70kg)

Ahmed Haddadi (under 60kg)

– Souhaib Azibou (under 57kg)

– Wadiâ Benouri (61kg)

In the kata category, Adam Rachouq stood out, winning gold in the seniors’ division.

The silver medalists included:

Nisrine Barouk (under 68kg)

– Chaimae El Hayati (under 55kg)

– Ahmed Haddadi (under 60kg, kumite)

– Tijani Lamoum (kata)

Morocco’s bronze medals came from several impressive performances:

– Douâa Choukri (under 61kg, in both senior and under-21 categories)

– Salma Sour (under 55kg)

– Rabii Zouidi (under 68kg)

– Rmissa Targou (under 53kg)

Aya Nassri and Israa El Kahri (kata juniors)

– Tijani Lamoum and Adam Rachouq (kata juniors)

The women’s kata team also secured a bronze.

The Arab Championship included athletes from Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Yemen, Kuwait, Palestine, and host nation Jordan.

Egypt topped the medal table with 51 medals, including 32 golds, while Jordan claimed second with 91 medals, 15 of them gold.

Morocco is set to bring karate talents to their home soil for fierce competition in the coming years.

In 2026, Rabat will hold the World Karate Championships for Cadets, Juniors, and U21 athletes from October 14 to 18, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.

This tournament promises to bring together some of the best young karate talents from around the world.
