Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR) Saïd Mouline took part in the Conference on Nuclear and Radiological Safety Regulation, organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the NNR, on October 28-29 in Pretoria, at the invitation of South Africa’s National Nuclear Regulator (NNR).
As part of this event, Mouline was invited to speak as a panelist during Session 2, on “Bridging Global Commitments with National Action – Policy, Treaties, and Regulatory Frameworks for Nuclear Safety,” according to a press release from AMSSNuR.
This session focused on promoting AMSSNuR’s African school, which helps enshrine national nuclear safety regimes in Africa by aligning national policies with international commitments and establishing effective regulatory frameworks, the press release adds.
Mouline’s participation in this high-level conference is part of AMSSNuR’s ongoing efforts to promote its African school and strengthen regional and international cooperation in nuclear and radiological safety and security.
It also reflects Morocco’s active contribution to the development of a harmonized African framework based on international standards and the sharing of experiences among regulatory authorities.
AMSSNuR’s participation in this event demonstrates its unwavering commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation in areas of safety, security, and transparency, as well as to promoting a strong safety culture, key elements of regulatory sustainability in the service of safeguarding the public and the environment from risks associated with exposure to ionizing radiation, the press release concludes.
