Morocco’s Embassy in Doha Urges Citizens to Rely on Official Channels, Warns Against Misinformation

Morocco’s embassy in Doha has urged Moroccan citizens in Qatar to rely on official information sources and avoid spreading unverified reports as misinformation tends to surge during periods of regional tension and uncertainty.

Qatar has been experiencing a series of airstrikes from Iran targeted towards US airbases and different parts of the country ever since the US-Israeli airstrike on Tehran Saturday.

In a public notice, the embassy said it had made additional communication channels available to Moroccan nationals seeking information or assistance. The mission provided a dedicated mobile number, +974 50 68 66 78, for citizens to contact the embassy and receive responses to their inquiries.

It also said Moroccans could reach the embassy through another mobile number, +974 66 68 48 61, as well as by email at [email protected]. The embassy added that its landline numbers, +974 44 83 18 85 and +974 44 83 18 84, remain available for calls, while the fax line +974 44 83 34 16 can also be used for communication.

The embassy called on Moroccan citizens to exercise caution and refrain from sharing rumors or misleading information, stressing the importance of consulting official sources and following guidance issued by the competent authorities in Qatar.

Warnings about misinformation frequently accompany crisis situations as the rapid circulation of unverified content online can complicate the flow of reliable information.

A message circulating online claiming that Moroccan citizens must leave Qatar has been confirmed as false, according to the Moroccan embassy in Doha, which said the document did not originate from any official authority.

The message was presented as an urgent notice announcing a maximum state of emergency and the activation of an evacuation protocol for Moroccan nationals within 72 hours, and has spread widely on social media.

The embassy reiterated that Moroccans in Qatar should rely only on verified updates issued through official diplomatic channels. It also called on the public to exercise caution when encountering documents circulating online that claim to come from official institutions but cannot be verified through recognized sources.
