Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni highlighted on Tuesday in Doha Morocco’s experience in using artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate the digital transition and transform economic planning and public administration.

Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar 2026 (February 1-4), Seghrouchni presented a vision of AI-supported public action based on data, optimized public policies, and modernized services to citizens, with a view to inclusive and sustainable growth.

Speaking at a high-level panel entitled on “Governing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Digital Transformation and Growth,” the minister highlighted the strategic importance of regional cooperation, particularly through the D4SD Hub (Digital for Sustainable Development Hub) initiative, launched by her department last September in New York in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

This platform aims to structure African and Arab digital cooperation around the sharing of expertise, the co-development of technological solutions, and capacity building in the fields of digital technology, innovation, and AI in the service of sustainable development, she said.

The minister also emphasized the need to develop AI models adapted to the languages and cultural references of the region, particularly through large language models (LLMs) designed to be deployable locally and replicable for the benefit of African and Arab countries.

This approach, she continued, is part of the national momentum generated during the “AI Made in Morocco” day on January 12 in Rabat, which was a major step in structuring the national AI ecosystem and strengthening Morocco’s technological innovation capabilities.

The minister also referred to structural projects undertaken by Morocco in terms of the interoperability of public systems, the digitization of administrative services, and the simplification of user experiences, particularly through innovative projects such as the digital wallet (e-wallet), currently under development, which aims to ultimately facilitate citizens’ access to digital public services.

This momentum, Seghrouchni added, will accompany the organization of major international events, notably the World Cup, in line with the organizational successes achieved on the African continent, such as the Africa Cup of Nations, whose success a resounding acclamation internationally.

Morocco’s participation in the Web Summit Qatar 2026 is part of its ongoing commitment to international technological partnerships and strengthening its presence in global debates on the future of the digital economy.

This event is a major technology gathering that brings together entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and leaders from various sectors worldwide. It has also established itself as a leading platform for networking, cooperation, and the exchange of ideas.
