Morocco’s international and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) right-back Achraf Hakimi will be out of action for “several weeks” due to a severe ankle sprain sustained on Tuesday evening during the match against Bayern Munich (1-2), the club announced in a medical update.

Hakimi was violently tackled by Colombian Luis Diaz during the match played on the fourth day of the Champions League.

The Moroccan right-back is among the favorites for the African Player of the Year award, according to the list of nominees in the men’s categories of the 2025 CAF Awards, which recognize the continent’s best players, coaches, clubs and national teams.

Trained at Real Madrid, Achraf Hakimi had an exceptional season with PSG, crowned with a French league title and a victory in the Champions League.
