Morocco’s Lower House passed a draft bill by a majority vote on Tuesday establishing the “Morocco 2030 Foundation,” a new body tasked with overseeing preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the Kingdom is co-hosting.

While presenting the bill, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Faouzi Lekjaa, stated that the legislation aligns with the High Royal Guidelines and is intended to support preparations for upcoming international football events, in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

It is also intended to provide support to the host regions and cities of these events, in addition to promoting Morocco’s image as a destination capable of hosting large-scale events.

He highlighted that the FIFA’s official announcement regarding the organization of the 2030 World Cup was a historic moment reflecting the international community’s confidence in Morocco’s capability to host landmark events.

“This is not merely a sporting event but rather an opportunity to consolidate various aspects of development in the Kingdom, strengthen infrastructure, boost the national economy, create job opportunities, and reinforce Morocco’s position as an international tourist destination.”
