Interfaith dialogue and the values of peace, coexistence and living together, as promoted by Morocco, were highlighted at interfaith meetings in Toulouse, attended by a delegation from Morocco’s Rabita Mohammadia of Ulema.

The Moroccan delegation hosted on Friday a symposium on the theme of “the transmission of religious values in the face of a changing world”, organized by the Ta’aruf Interfaith Center and the Francophonie and Migrations Chair at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse, in collaboration with the Kingdom’s Consulate General in Toulouse.

The symposium provided an opportunity to highlight the values of otherness and living together in Muslim and Christian societies, and the opportunities for interfaith exchanges, in a context of societal transformations brought about by profound changes in the current world.

Speaking at the opening of the symposium, Rector of the Catholic Institute of Toulouse François Moog welcomed the partnership and excellence of the cooperation between the Rabita Mohammadia of Ulema and his institution, since the signing of the partnership agreement on December 19, 2019.

For his part, Director of Research at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse Jean-Michel Poirier focused on “the means for religions to convey messages that can reach all generations at a time of ‘brevity’, favored by social networks and the media”.

On Saturday, the Moroccan delegation paid a visit to the Saint Benoit d’En-Calcat abbey, which provided an opportunity to view the abbey’s archives and exchange views with the monks on interfaith dialogue through the experience of Toumliline in Morocco, a monastery created by the Benedictine monks of En-Calcat and an emblematic space for Islamic-Christian fraternity.
