The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, received on Thursday in Rabat the Polish Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, Coordinator of Special Services, Tomasz Siemoniak.

This meeting took place as part of the working visit to Morocco by the Polish government official, who led a high-level official delegation and was accompanied by Poland’s ambassador to Morocco. It aimed to strengthen and consolidate areas of security partnership with Morocco.

According to a statement from the DGSN-DGST pole, discussions between the two sides focused on several issues of common interest, notably strengthening coordination and information exchange on illegal immigration, securing border posts, enhancing operational cooperation and mutual technical assistance in countering organized crime and terrorism, as well as various specialties of scientific and technical policing.

The two parties also addressed challenges related to terrorist threats to the security situation at both global and African levels. They also exchanged views on high-risk security threats in the Sahel, the Sahara, and the Horn of Africa, as well as in emerging hotspots where terrorist organizations are active and threaten global security.

Polish security services are relying on bilateral cooperation with the DGSN-DGST hub as part of a solid partnership based on strong foundations of joint cooperation, considering Morocco a reliable and central partner in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, the same source noted.

To further strengthen this cooperation, Hammouchi and the Polish official agreed to organize an upcoming visit to Morocco by the head of the internal security Agency, with a view to establishing an institutional framework for security partnership with Morocco.

This meeting reflects both parties’ will to reinforce bilateral cooperation in security matters and opens promising prospects for developing this cooperation in favor of the security of both countries.
