Morocco’s Upper House Deputy Speaker Holds Talks with French Senate Official

Morocco’s Upper House Deputy Speaker Ahmed Akhchichine held talks on Tuesday in Rabat with French Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee chair Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom at the head of a high-level parliamentary delegation.

In a press release, the House of Councillors indicated that this meeting served as an opportunity to review the latest developments in bilateral cooperation across various sectors of common interest — including economic and industrial collaboration, particularly in the automotive, aerospace, energy, and textile industries.

This meeting, part of the ongoing dynamic characterizing relations between Morocco and France, emphasized the importance of strengthening trade exchanges and supporting partnerships between economic stakeholders from both countries, the press release added.

On this occasion, Estrosi-Sassone expressed her pride in the privileged relationship between Morocco and France, noting that this visit reflects a shared commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation and consolidating channels of coordination and dialogue between the two institutions.

She also highlighted Morocco’s strategic position as a reliable partner at both the regional and international levels, commending its pioneering role in the fields of renewable energy, industry, and investment.

For his part, the deputy speaker the House reaffirmed the shared ambition to consolidate cooperative relations between the two nations, based on mutual interests and in service of the aspirations of both Heads of State — His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron — as well as those of the two friendly peoples, in pursuit of closer ties and fruitful cooperation.

Akhchichine stressed the importance of regular dialogue between the House of Councillors and the French Senate, describing it as a key lever for advancing closer ties between the two countries and serving their shared interests.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the shared will of the both Houses to continue coordination and deepen parliamentary dialogue, with the aim of consolidating the strategic partnership process between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic.
