Nairobi: Economy Minister Takes Part in AfDB 2024 Annual Meetings

Minister of Economy and Finance and African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Governor for Morocco, Nadia Fettah, took part in the Bank’s 2024 Annual Meetings, held on May 27-31 in Nairobi.

Fettah took part, on Tuesday, in the “Governors’ Dialogue” session, devoted this year to the theme of “Mobilizing the private sector to accelerate transformation in Africa”, according to a statement by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance.

On this occasion, the Minister highlighted the vital role of the private sector in Africa in creating jobs and boosting growth, while welcoming the initiatives launched by the AfDB to remove the obstacles to the development of African private investment, added the same source.

On the sidelines of her participation in the AfDB Annual Meetings, the Minister met with the institution’s president, Akinwumi Adesina.

During the meeting, Fettah commended the exemplary partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the AfDB, and the Bank’s constant support for the reforms and development projects undertaken by the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

For his part, Adesina thanked Morocco for its continued support for the various strategies and initiatives launched by the AfDB Group as part of its mission to promote the economic development and social progress of regional member countries.

Fettah also held talks with Alexia Latortue, Assistant Secretary for International Trade and Development at the United States Department of the Treasury.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed aspects of economic cooperation relations between Morocco and the United States, and ways of further strengthening them in the wake of the major reforms and structuring projects undertaken by Morocco.
