Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) issued a new weather alert today, announcing expected strong winds and snowfall across several provinces.
The weather alert expects snowfall of 20 to 30 centimeters from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the provinces of Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, and Midelt.
The orange-level forecasts snowfall of 5-10 centimeters in Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taourirt, Figuig, Taza, and Khenifra.
Azilal and Beni Mellal will experience the same weather.
On Wednesday, strong wind gusts between 70 and 85 kilometers per hour are also expected from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the provinces of Nador, Jerada, Berkane, and Oujda-Angad. The same weather will affect Taourirt, Guercif, Figuig, Driouch, Boulemane, Taza, and Midelt.
The weather office issued a similar notice yesterday, forecasting snowfall starting from 1,700 meters in altitude in several regions.
Morocco has been witnessing freezing weather, especially in the early mornings and evenings.
