On High Royal Instructions, the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) under the National Defense Administration took part in the 2nd Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers in Riyadh on Tuesday, with a delegation headed by the Director General of the DGSSI.

During this session, the Council examined a number of issues and topics related to Arab cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, foremost among which were the approval of the draft Arab cybersecurity strategy and the adoption of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers’ accession to the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, according to a statement from the National Defense Administration.

The Council also approved its adherence to the most important international bodies and organizations, and examined several work documents presented by the League of Arab States member countries.

Speaking during this Council, the Director General of the DGSSI expressed sincere thanks to the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting this session, welcoming the efforts of the Council’s Secretariat-General to facilitate this meeting.

Referring to the Council’s achievements, the Director General of the DGSSI stated that the first meeting, held last year, laid the foundations for a common Arab process in cybersecurity, culminating in the launch of a series of initiatives, including the development of the Arab strategic framework for cybersecurity, the activation of Arab cyber diplomacy, the strengthening of the exchange of expertise, and the establishment of mechanisms for information exchange.

These achievements constitute a collective asset that must be leveraged during this session to strengthen the immunity of the Arab digital space, he added.

In line with the clear-sighted Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, calling to strengthen cooperation with sister Arab countries in the service of collective security and shared development, the Moroccan delegation reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to sharing its expertise and its willingness to adhere to all initiatives adopted by the Council.
