Morocco’s national team coach Walid Regragui has praised the Moroccan fans in Doha for their unwavering support during the U-17 squad’s recent 6-0 loss, framing the reaction as a sign of national unity and resilience.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference to announce the squad for upcoming friendlies against Mozambique and Uganda, Regragui stressed the importance of staying positive. “The boys now all want to play for Morocco,” he said. “If we all come together, only good things will happen.”

He pointed to the fans’ applause after the defeat as proof of their loyalty: “When I saw the crowd cheering despite the result, I knew this is the kind of support we need.”

The coach also expressed confidence in his staff, the football federation, and the Moroccan public, calling them “the best in the world.” He urged everyone to stay positive and continue supporting the national teams.

While the sentiment is noble, some observers might question whether applause after a six-goal defeat reflects healthy encouragement or lowered expectations.

Regragui’s insistence on positivity, though admirable, comes at a time when fans are also demanding accountability and competitive edge, especially with AFCON around the corner.

The senior team will face Mozambique on November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and Uganda on November 18 at 12:00 p.m., both at the Grand Stadium in Tangier.
