Walid Regragui has spoken out about the dual-national Ayoub Bouaddi, who has been called up to represent France’s under-21 team.
In today’s press conference, Regragui made it clear that Morocco is doing everything to secure Bouaddi’s services for the national team. “Bouaddi is one of the biggest talents for the future of world football,” Regragui said. “We want the best players, and he is definitely one of them.”
Despite Bouaddi being called up for France’s U21 squad, Regragui appeared unfazed. “When a player chooses us, we will be happy. If Bouaddi decides to stay with France, that’s his decision, and we won’t lose sleep over it,” said Regragui.
More dual-nationality players are choosing to represent Morocco at a younger age. “In the past, we would wait until players were 24, 25, or even 27. Now, they are making their choices at 18 or 19,” Regragui said. “This is a good thing for us. If we need to wait a few more months for Bouaddi, we will.”
“We are a big team now, and many talented players want to wear the shirt. There will always be tough choices, but that’s the nature of competition,” he concluded.
