Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced that some of its flights will be disrupted due to an air traffic controller strike in France that started today and will go through Friday.
Reports today said that France will experience a nationwide traffic controller strike, with demonstrators protesting against staff shortages and a lack of proper equipment.
Royal Air Maroc invited passengers to check their flight status and contact info on its website, noting that the company’s teams are contacting affected clients.
The situation disrupted air travel worldwide.
France 24 said today that Ryanair was also disrupted, forced to cancel 170 flights, affecting more than 30,000 passengers.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary commented on the strike, noting that this makes “no sense and is abundantly unfair on EU passengers and families going on holidays.”
Air France also announced it had adapted its flight schedule, along with Easyjet, which announced it would be canceling 274 flights on Thursday and Friday.
Air traffic controllers have been calling on the French government to modernize outdated infrastructure, denouncing staffing shortfalls, and several other challenges.
