The speech delivered Friday by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the opening of the first session of the fifth legislative year of the 11th Legislature is a call to action to accelerate Morocco’s transformation, said Sir Liam Fox, Chair of the UK Abraham Accords Group.
The Royal Speech “is a clear message that there will be no wavering in realizing Morocco’s ambitions to achieve a transformation that benefits all Moroccans and all regions of the Kingdom,” Sir Fox told MAP, stressing that His Majesty the King placed strong emphasis on the coherent social and regional development of the country.
“It is a call to strengthen Morocco’s social and regional cohesion,” said the British politician, who has held several ministerial positions. He stressed that the Sovereign made it clear that development and prosperity are not only about building new infrastructure but also about improving employment opportunities and the quality of housing, education, and healthcare.
The level of development achieved by Morocco and its stability have enabled the Kingdom to attract a record level of foreign direct investment, Sir Fox added, noting that the country’s international partners recognize the vast opportunities it offers and the crucial role it plays in global growth and security.
“Morocco is capable of bringing prosperity and stability not only to its own population but also to the wider region—and even beyond,” the British statesman said.
He added that Morocco’s political class must rally to play its part in advancing this new approach to economic, social, and regional development in line with His Majesty the King’s vision.
“The overall tone of the Royal Speech is one of mobilization to push forward the country’s development with both speed and efficiency,” Sir Fox observed.
