His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s Throne Day Speech is a call to speed up the strategic projects on the governance of water resources, said Abderrahim Ksiri, member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE).
“The Royal guidelines are clear. Faced with the major challenges that lie ahead, we need to speed up the strategic projects on water management,” the expert told MAP, citing, among others, the projects to generalize the transfer of water from water basins, and to complete the construction program for dams and seawater desalination plants.
Ksiri, also vice-national coordinator of the Moroccan Alliance for Climate and Sustainable Development (AMCDD), noted that the Royal Speech demonstrates that the Kingdom, thanks to the Sovereign’s far-sighted vision, is acting on the basis of a clear vision and strategic guidelines for managing water stress.
Ksiri noted that thanks to the anticipatory measures undertaken by Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, judicious policies have already been put in place with results that are being felt, citing in this context the National Program for the Supply of Drinking Water and Irrigation 2020-2027, aimed in particular at consolidating and diversifying drinking water supply sources, guaranteeing water security and facing the consequences of climate change.
