The Irish airline Ryanair launched its new air route between Madrid and Dakhla on Wednesday, offering two weekly flights—Wednesday and Saturday.
The inaugural flight touched down at Dakhla Airport, further enhancing air connectivity between Morocco and Spain. This move aligns with a memorandum of understanding signed between the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Ryanair.
With this launch, Ryanair becomes the fourth partner of the ONMT to establish a direct international route to Dakhla, following Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Binter Canarias, and Transavia.
A ceremony was held on this occasion, and was attended by several local officials and tourism sector stakeholders.
Several Moroccan expatriates raved about the chance to visit Dakhla, all thanks to the new air route, and praised the warm welcome they received, with the airport comfortable experience.
Another flight linking Dakhla to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands will also be launched this month, with two weekly frequencies.
These new air routes will double the airport’s current international capacity, bringing the total offering to nearly 47,000 seats. They will also make Spain the leading source market for flights to Dakhla, ahead of France.
