Moroccan port infrastructure has seen “remarkable” development, noted Santiago J. Castella Surribas, President of the Port of Tarragona.
Over the past 25 years, Morocco has made significant progress in modernizing its port infrastructure, positioning itself as a key player in international trade, the Spanish official told MAP following a meeting with Morocco’s Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of port infrastructure for global commerce, Castella Surribas particularly praised the exemplary model of the Tanger Med port, a leading logistics hub.
In this context, he called for further strengthening of cooperation between Morocco and Spain and for taking full advantage of shared opportunities for mutually beneficial development.
Ambassador Benyaich also held meetings with the Mayor of Tarragona, Ruben Viñuales Elias, the Mayor of Cambrils, Oliver Klein, and the Spanish Government’s Deputy Delegate in Tarragona, Elisabet Romero Álvarez.
Discussions focused on the important role played by Moroccans residing in Catalonia within the local social and cultural fabric, as well as the need to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the economic, cultural, tourism, and logistics sectors.
