Since joining the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Morocco has stood out as a pillar in promoting the values of Francophonie, the Kingdom’s ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti and chair of the group of Francophone ambassadors in Ethiopia, Nezha Alaoui M’hammdi, said on Friday in Addis Ababa.
The Kingdom’s role within the OIF has been reflected in its active participation in the organization’s work, which demonstrates its strong commitment to cultural diversity, multilingualism, and international cooperation, said the diplomat, speaking at a reception on the occasion of the opening of the new session of the group of Francophone ambassadors in Ethiopia.
She also pointed out that Africa, through its cultural diversity and its ethnic, dialectal, and linguistic mosaic, has made countless and invaluable contributions to the promotion of the Francophone world, giving it particular resonance through commendable initiatives in education, culture, and entrepreneurship.
The ambassador also called for continued collaboration and stronger ties between Francophone countries in order to work together towards the aspirations of the Francophonie in the face of the many challenges that lie ahead.
For her part, Nefertiti Mushiya Tshibanda, Permanent Representative of the OIF to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa, argued that Francophonie is a permanent invitation to encounter, exchange, and cooperation, noting that through “our arts, our literature, our science, and our businesses, we are writing a shared history together, one of solidarity and multilateral cooperation.”
