Snowfall is forecast on heights above 1,500 m (4,900 feet) from Saturday to Monday, and a cold wave is expected across several Moroccan provinces, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) reported in an “orange” alert bulletin.
Snowfall ranging from 20 to 40 cm (8 to 16 inches) is expected in the provinces of Midelt, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Taroudant and Ouarzazate.
Meanwhile, 10 to 20 cm (4 to 8 inches) of snow is expected during the same period in the provinces of Ifrane, Chichaoua and Boulemane.
Temperatures between -05 and 01°C are expected from Saturday to Tuesday in the provinces of Boulemane, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Midelt and Taroudant.
On Monday and Tuesday, temperatures between -02 and 03° are expected in the provinces of Figuig, Jerada, Sefrou and the highlands in the provinces of Guercif, Taza, Taourirt, Khenifra and Tiznit.
