Morocco and Spain have managed to establish, over the past three years, the “best climate of cooperation ever achieved” in the history of their bilateral relations, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, said on Tuesday in Madrid.
The Joint Declaration adopted in April 2022, following talks between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, established “the best climate of cooperation and collaboration ever achieved” in the history of relations between the two countries, Albares stressed before the Senate.
The head of Spanish diplomacy noted that trade with Morocco had reached an all-time high of around €25 billion, confirming the solidity and complementarity of economic and trade relations between the two kingdoms.
More than 15,000 Spanish companies regularly export to Morocco, and a further 660 are established in the country, testifying to the confidence and attractiveness of the Moroccan business environment, he pointed out.
Speaking of the 2030 World Cup, set to be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, Albares said that this global event will provide a historic opportunity to further bolster the ties of friendship and strategic partnership between Rabat and Madrid.
He also praised the efficient cooperation with Morocco in migration, stating that irregular migration would be “unmanageable” without the support and commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco.
