Andalusia and Morocco share a common strategic vision for sustainable development and energy transition, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in the fields of clean energy, green hydrogen, and natural resource management, said Rodrigo Rodríguez Hans, Vice President of Prodetur (Seville Provincial Council).
In a statement to MAP, Rodríguez Hans stressed that geographical proximity and complementary resources make Morocco a natural partner for Andalusia in the context of energy transition and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.
Morocco and Spain share common goals based on sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency. “This convergence opens up important prospects for our technology and environmental companies,” he said.
The Andalusian official highlighted the active role of the Seville Provincial Council in promoting inter-institutional cooperation, noting that Seville’s entrepreneurial fabric “is ready to get more involved in joint projects with Morocco, particularly in the solar energy and green hydrogen sectors.”
Highlighting the energy dynamics of his region, Rodríguez Hans pointed out that 90.6% of the installed electrical power in the province of Seville now comes from renewable sources, representing nearly a quarter of Andalusia’s total.
“Seville is now the most advanced Andalusian province in terms of energy transition, thanks to flagship projects such as the green hydrogen plant in the port of Seville, the Heineken solar thermal power plant, and the HGreen La Isla plant in Dos Hermanas,” he detailed.
According to him, these initiatives are not only a major economic lever, but also a model of sustainable development that promotes social stability and the creation of skilled jobs.
