The Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region sealed, on Friday in Hanover, a partnership in the field of migration and investment opportunities with Lower Saxony, aiming to promote the development of viable solutions for labor immigration and enable effective engagement of the Moroccan diaspora in this northwest German region.
To this end, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the president of the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Omar Moro, and the local Ministers for Economic Affairs, Olaf Lies, and Social Affairs, Labor, Health and Equal Opportunities, Andreas Philippi, on the sidelines of a Forum organized, on this occasion, under the theme: “imagining the migration of the future.”
The two parties expressed, through this partnership, their shared conviction of the importance of entrepreneurship and the creation of employment opportunities in the economic and social development of their regions.
Within this framework, the two regions aspire to strengthen bilateral cooperation and foster innovation through skilled labor migration. They are committed to working together to identify their needs for skilled workers in key economic sectors, to promote job creation and entrepreneurship among Moroccans living abroad.
At the signing ceremony, Moro highlighted the investment opportunities offered by the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, calling on German companies to set up in the region and intensify cultural, tourist and linguistic exchanges to achieve the objectives of this partnership.
For his part, Lower Saxony’s Economics Minister called to place the human element at the heart of this partnership, while welcoming the shared desire of both parties to move towards close bilateral cooperation, enabling existing potential on both sides to be exploited in a win-win context.
Participants of this forum also discussed a range of migration-related topics, with a particular focus on “partnerships as the key to sustainable migration processes.”
