The Speech of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the glorious Throne Day presents a clear vision for Morocco’s trajectory as an emerging nation across the economic, political, and foreign policy spheres, noted international jurist Andrew Rosemarine.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI marked the celebration of the anniversary of his accession to the throne with a speech addressing the state of the Kingdom, which outlines a clear vision for Morocco’s path as an emerging nation in economic, political, and foreign policy terms, Rosemarine told MAP.
The British lawyer particularly underscored the emphasis placed in the Royal Speech on the Kingdom’s accomplishments in economic and human development, as well as on the challenges that the Kingdom is ready to take up to strengthen its development process.
“His Majesty’s reign is characterized by a personal commitment to advancing economic development for the benefit of all His people,” said Rosemarine. He also commended the progress already made by the Moroccan economy and HM the King’s strong resolve to pursue a model of integrated economic, human, and social development of Morocco.
In this context, the expert recalled the strides made under the Sovereign’s enlightened leadership, especially in modernizing infrastructure and developing strategic sectors such as energy, industry, and tourism.
“The Sovereign highlighted this in his speech, mentioning in particular the high-speed line linking Kenitra to Marrakech,” he said, noting that “Morocco can be proud of this.” “The Moroccan rail network is ambitious and will bring greater productivity to the service of the population,” Rosemarine added.
On the political front, “Moroccan democracy stands out for its successful combination of free and fair elections offering a wide range of parties, which reinforces stability under the unifying force of the monarchy,” the British lawyer said.
Turning to the growing international support for the Autonomy Plan for the Moroccan Sahara, considered the only solution to the regional conflict over the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, Rosemarine welcomed the United Kingdom’s decision to support the Plan presented by Morocco in 2007, thus joining major powers such as the United States and France.
The British government’s decision will contribute to strengthening relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom, the lawyer stressed, noting that trade between the two kingdoms continues to grow.
The momentum for recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara will grow stronger because, he said, “the momentum of history is with Morocco.”
