The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy reported that foreign currency travel receipts reached a record high of 105 billion dirhams in 2023, marking a notable 12% increase compared to 2022.
Following the unprecedented arrival of 14.5 million tourists in 2023, the Ministry highlighted the exceptional momentum of tourism, with foreign currency travel receipts reaching a historic peak.
Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, commented on this achievement, stating, “Tourism revenues in 2023 surpassed the 100 billion dirham mark, further solidifying tourism’s position as one of the primary foreign currency earners for our country.”
Ammor emphasized the alignment of this accomplishment with the roadmap’s objective of reaching 120 billion dirhams by 2026. She affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to diversifying Morocco’s entertainment offerings, aiming to significantly boost spending by foreign tourists.
This notable achievement reflects Morocco’s continuous efforts to enhance its tourism sector and reinforce its position as a leading destination in the global market.
