Morocco’s women under-17 national team lost to their North Korean peers on Tuesday in Rabat by a decisive score of 6-1 in the round of 16 of the U17 Women’s World Cup, held in Morocco until November 8.
The sole goal for the Atlas Lionesses, who are now out of the competition, was scored at the end of the match by Maissane Ferkous (89′) against the defending champions and three-time world champions in this category.
The national team qualified for the round of 16 after finishing third in Group A: they lost to Brazil (0-3) and Italy (1-3) before beating Costa Rica (3-1).
Heavy favorite North Korea finished atop Group B with nine points, thanks to three consecutive victories against Mexico, the Netherlands, and Cameroon.
