The World Power-to-X Summit 2024 officially opened today at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, bringing together leading policymakers, world-renowned experts, and key opinion leaders in the green hydrogen sector.
The event is co-organized by the Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), in partnership with the Green H2 Cluster, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), and the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN).
In her opening remarks, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali emphasized Morocco’s commitment to developing green hydrogen as a key lever for the country’s low-carbon strategy and energy transition efforts.
She spoke about the recently published “Morocco Offer,” which provides visibility and an incentive framework for national and international investors to develop integrated green hydrogen projects in the country.
“The development of Green Hydrogen as a vector for decarbonization is fully in line with Morocco’s commitment to international efforts in the climate field, but also with the continuity of efforts already underway for over a decade to achieve an energy transition,” stated the minister.
Benali encouraged summit participants to seize the opportunities presented to collaborate on solutions that will accelerate progress towards a sustainable future powered by clean energy.
The two-day summit features a diverse program of interactive activities, including side events, masterclasses, sectoral meetings, as well as business-to-government (BtoG) and business-to-business (BtoB) meetings.
Panels and workshops led by renowned experts will offer in-depth analyses and valuable perspectives on strategic issues such as Power-to-X technologies, integrating hydrogen into the energy mix, and financing opportunities for large-scale international projects.
As a co-organizer, UM6P, which is dedicated to developing innovative solutions to address Africa’s specific challenges, plays a key role in the summit.
With a strong focus on research and close partnerships with the industrial sector, UM6P says it is committed to training a new generation of talents to shape the future of the African continent.
The World Power-to-X Summit 2024 aims to strengthen Morocco’s position as a global hub for green hydrogen while establishing strong synergies between sector players both nationally and internationally.
The event serves as a catalyst for signing strategic contracts and launching innovative projects, with the goal of assessing progress and discussing concrete projects that will emerge from the collaborations initiated during this edition at the 2025 summit.
