The city of Dakhla has become, under the impetus of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, “the spearhead” of development in the Moroccan Sahara, the news website of the French townhall of Dreux stresses.
“Billions of euros are injected into hundreds of projects covering all fields in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, including infrastructure, industry, fishing, tourism, health, education and real estate”, the site stresses.
This momentum doesn’t prevent Dakhla from “cultivating the legendary Sahara hospitality and its links with our town”, Dreux mayor Pierre-Frédéric Billet notes, quoted in the article.
The source recalls that few weeks after welcoming a delegation from the town of Dakhla to Dreux and signing a friendship pact between the two communes, the Moroccan side invited Dreux inhabitants to discover the region early July.
This is “a sign of respect that is all the more appreciated given that Dakhla is now attracting elected representatives from the world’s largest cities and multinationals looking for opportunities”, the source notes.
Several projects to be carried out with Dakhla were determined, ranging from renewable energies to training for the hotel industry, import-export of building materials, digital innovation and culture, the article adds.
